Hi guys. Hmm, for some reason the forum lost my password and details so I had to re-register. Anyway, the point is I just finished a fresh install of W2k and can not log in at all. It is the first boot and I have yet to log in with this install. I have done this a few times (installed w2k) and have not had this problem. I always use the same password so I don't know whats wrong. Is there a way around this or do I have to reinstall?

Problem solved!
Thanks for the reply though. In the end I did find away, apparently there are two ways just for reference. Apparently you can copy this file
c:\winnt\system32\config\sam to a floppy and use a password cracker to find it. Or, just delete the file 'sam' by accessing your NTFS or W2k drive using NTFSDOS from dos, or from Windows if on a fat file system. Apparently with this file deleted, the admin password defaults back to a 'blank' password. Although, I did not have to resort to either of these methods. My problem was indeed the CAPS lock ley. lol. Yeah, for some reason w2k boots up with my caps lock key on by default so the password was written in lower case and my endless attempts in lower case proved futile. Simple but silly.

Wolf, when you say 'leak' are you refering to the deletion of 'sam' from the config dir?
As far as I know, SP1 did not. This method has worked for me with the service pack installed. Guess we'll wait and see if sp2 provided a solution. I guess, it is rather sad that this method does work at all.
