HELP!! DESCENT FREESPACE: THE GREAT WAR ON XP DO NOT DETEC CD!!
I have the same problem. . . . anyone find a converter for the 40 pin connector yet. . . . I need one. catch@charter. net.

I want to play this great game again, and different from other guys in this forum I had no problem installing the game on my XP SP2, the problem is that when I try to start a campain in the main section of the game it asks me to "Insert Either CD of Freespace" and I have tried with CD1 and CD2 and it just not detec the CD, so I can't start a GAME!!
If anyone know how to make this work PLEASE HELP! I'M DESPERATE!

You sure the CD Drive isn't going out?

If you have the original CD, although that doesn't matter as this game is abandonware now, just remove the CD-check. Head over here to gamecopyworld.com, and download the the fix. Enjoy the game.
