HELP Entry Point not found in GDI32

Running DxDiag, and other applications, get Entry Point not found. The procedure entry point DdEntry1 could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32. dll Running Windows 2000, SP4, with DirectX9.

Running DxDiag, and other applications, get "Entry Point not found. The procedure entry point DdEntry1 could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll" Running Windows 2000, SP4, with DirectX9.0c.
 
Any ideas to get me started on fixing this?

I have seen this error come up for a variety of reasons. I found it in a particular program I was using (not DirectX related). In any case, it may be in the video drivers you are using. You could try a different video driver. Also, some have found the solution by "upgrading" their DirectX to the full SDK version. Seems kind of excessive to me, but it has worked for some.
