Can you enter to safe mode?
1. Restart the computer.
2. As soon as the BIOS loads, before Windows logo and progress bar, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
3. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and then press Enter.
Go to Control Panel then launch System applet.
On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button in the Startup And Recovery section.
In the System Failure section, deselect the Automatically Restart check box, and click OK. And OK. Now when the system crashes, you will see the Blue Screen of Death. This can help to find out what happend.

Ok i went on safe mode, but it froze now. so all i see is a black screen with buncha words on um. totally froze. any other option? i really appreciate ur help. thanx
I'd hazard a guess that either your CPU or RAM is going all funky. RMA that puppy quick, it's only a couple months old, so get a new one, don't screw around with it. Lappies are notoriously hot, possibly a heatsink wasn't installed right when it was manufactured, so get it fixed while it's under warramty.
Hi,
I have the same problem as well. Really wish someone can help me with this as all my school work is inside this harddisk.
I'm not a pro with computers so I'll try my best to describe the problem.
My laptop(Acer TravelMate 290) restarts itself automatically everytime the screen that says "Hit F2 to enter Setup" appears.
It will just restart itself and repeat the process repeatedly. When I try hitting F2, I get into a loading screen with some words I cannot catch because the screen goes blank almost immediately, then it will be stuck there without restarting, just a blank screen.
Hitting F8 on the bios screen doesn't let me boot in safe mode as well.
Also, I do not know if this is related, but the night before this happened, there was a window error with the title "You are not supposed to see this". it's the type of window you see when you want to end task a program. After I see that all my programs were closed, including those in the system tray. However, after that, I could still use my laptop. This morning, when i tried booting it, this error happens.
Also, I'm using Windows XP Home SP2. really hope someone can help me!
THANKS!
