Help me pick a graphics card!
This is a discussion about Help me pick a graphics card! in the Windows Hardware category; My wife and I need to upgrade video cards to play the upcoming BF2. We both have systems with 8X AGP, and both want a 256MB card. Our budget is about $120 -$150 per card. We currently have an ATI 9600 256MB and GeForce4Ti 4200 128MB.

We currently have an ATI 9600 256MB and GeForce4Ti 4200 128MB. We just want something that is playable in BF2 at a decent resolution and effect settings. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Well, my dad has the 9600-128MB card in his box and it's very playable with just about anything he plays.
Are you sure a little tweaking won't eek out a little more performance on that card ?!?
I can see upgrading the GeForce 4 card however and I recommend the X700 Pro AGP version at CompUSA for $200 retail. I'm sure the card can be had for a little less in OEM form from some online vendor.
Myself I didn't have any issue paying the retail price for it especially since it's a 256MB card
