Hello long story but here goes.
I have an old motherboard about 4 yrs old and I bought a 160Gig maxtor harddrive. I was able to install OS but it gave me a halt screen error so I partitioned it everything was fine, while looking for drivers i was using another PC when I reconnected my new pc, the monitor did not turn on, no post sequence running, no beeps, the fan is running and the lights to the cd rom and writer stay on. I put back an old harddrive thinking it's the power supply and even that one did not boot up despite the fact that it can boot up on my other PC. Have I fried the CMOS? Please advice what I can do other than purchase everything from start. I have a celeron processor 733 Mhz.
Thanks

You might have knocked something inside the case, reseat the memory, any PCI/AGP cards, check IDE cables and power as well and retry it.
OP
I attempted to take out the IDE cable for the Hard drive and it is embedded into a slot with side "locks" which was hard to take out. i am still having a problem with it. If this is the case how can i fix it?
