Help Solve Half Life Problem

Now when I try running Half life, I get Half Life requirers 16 bit color. Please set desktop to this. . . . No idea why I get this.
Just put the Nvidia 5.16 drivers on my system, for my CL TNT2 Ultra. RUnning win2k. Now when I try running Half life, I get "Half Life requirers 16 bit color. Please set desktop to this...." No idea why I get this. Desktop is in 32bit. I have played this game many times with 32 bit desktop. ANy ideas? Even setting it to 16 bit doesnt work.

It's that compatibility patch from microsoft that screwed it up... here is the .inf someone made to fix it:
halflife.inf
Save this, right-click it, and choose install. This removes the compatibility info from the registry, allowing it to run normal again

yeah, someone posted it here a few days after the compatibility patch was released....
