Anyone able to help with a solution to get rid of this nagging crackling noise?

AMD K6-2 400
128 Mb
MSI 5184 mobo

I got the same problem and I got rid of it by muting Line-in.
Adjust both the DirectSound and Main volume to 85% or so in the Creative Surround mixer.
