i have an italian mpy4 player its called "GOLD Mp3 Player DYNAMIC 4GB"

ok so, i plugged in my player to the pc to charge it. the pc read it and everything was fine about an hour later, i got a message on the bottom right screen. i forgot what it said exactly but i'm sure it had to do with the USB.

so, i disconnected it since i was done and later on i plugged it again to put a song on. however, the pc didn't read it. the thing is, it is able to charge but if i go to my computer, there is no "removable disk." now i also tried to do a system restore and i got this message:

"Changes made to drives(s) F: after this point cannot be reversed because the driver was either excluded from System Restore monitoring, or was turned off or removed."

please help! much appreciated!

The message that you don't remember was either (1) about the fact that you have the device plugged into a USB 1.0 port and it would operate much more efficiently if plugged into a USB 2.0 port (which also causes some performance issues with those type of devices), or (2) that you need to click on the arrow symbol to safely remove the device (which if you do not, you run the risk of frying that port).

I would try plugging the device into a different USB port. You really need to be careful about unplugging things from USB port. Make sure you click that green arrow in the taskbar to stop the device before removing it. It should only take about 10 seconds to do and will save you the headache of having to replace parts.

If this does not work, tell us some more details. What type of PC do you have? What OS? Try to figure out what that message said and such. The more details you tell us, the more we can help you out.

OP
well, i used the usb cord that came with the player and was working fine. then one day i used a different cord, and still worked as well. a few days later is when i got the message. but the weird thing is that it still charges, but the pc doesn't read it...?

i tried to plug in it different USBs but nothing happends. i don't even get a message or anything. also, if i plug in another device such as my webcam into the same port, that works. But for help i have a Compaq Presario 6000. I have a Windows XP Home edition Service Pack 2.

please help! i will appreciate you so much!
