please l am facing the same problem my OS is WIN. XP Pro. my video card is : MSI MX440SES-T. The message which l get when l want to start the game " Call of duty " is " Could not openGL. make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacture's website" please l went to their website but it didn't work ( http://www.msi.com.tw ) please help !
MSI doesn't make video cards. They resell them. You most likely have an ATI or Nvidia chipset on an MSI PCB.
Of course, if you have previously played it on that same computer, and haven't changed any hardware around, you most likely need to reinstall your video drivers. The error you are recieving is triggered by the OpenGL subsystem, which is a feature/subset of your video drivers.
Most likely you have an ATI, Nvidia, or Matrox video card. Please consult your system manufacturer or documentation for your specifications.
Once you know what hardware you have, you can download an appropriate video driver from the manufacturer's web site.

You are right l used this video card before with this game and other games and it worked perfectly, about changing hardware, Yes l changed my sound card to Audigy 2 Zs Platinum Pro. Does that make any different? and one more thing that l faced recently when l want to start the game American Conquest it asks me to put the CD although it’s already there! Does it have that anything to do with the previous problem? Thank you.
Yeah same for me, i reinstalled the game like 4 times, got 1.5 patch back up, and it still says "could not load openGL try downloading the latest drivers or something and ask ur manufacterer." i just got a new video card, thats probly why, video card: GeForce MX4000, A180B T, 128mb DDR
all the others games work fine, but not call of duty.
XP home edition i belive, help do i need to reinstall the driver of my video card or what? help help

The opengl errors, ya know the subsystem ones, well there IS a solution, it is as follows. There are four steps: 1. Go to http://www.scitechsoft.com/ 2. Download the file gldirect-3.0.0.exe 3. Install it 4. Reboot Trust me this works, I tried EVERYTHING and nothing else stopped any of my errors (fixed JK2, UT3, & Tribes 2). This goes around your system opengl files, covering your "faulty" ones with the programs working ones. Peace, Constrictor14 "
