HORRIBLE geforce 2 performance in whistler beta 2
This is a discussion about HORRIBLE geforce 2 performance in whistler beta 2 in the Windows Hardware category; ok, i don't know what WTF the deal is, but i get HORRIBLE game performance in Whistler Beta 2 (build 2462) with my GeForce 2 GTS. I started out with the 10. 40 drivers, then the 7. 52 drivers, but i only got about 43 fps in Quake 3 (i usually get from 75 - 85).

hhhmmm.....Wierd, I get awesume performance in the games ive tried so far (yes, that includes Quake III) on a GF2 GTS.
BTW, for my system I find the Detonator 7.58 Win2000 WHQL-certified drivers give me the best game performance.
Good Luck!

Do not install VIA drivers. When I installed the VIA agp thing, I lost 20fps in Q3.
I would recomend 1040 drivers(yes I know you have tried them). They work in most games AND they don't give you BSOD when you play mpeg/avi movies.
For me performance in OpenGL is excactly the same as in WinMe. In D3D I think its a little lower but not much. Havent tried that much. Not may D3D benchmarks around (when 3dmark2001 don't work). In 3dmark2000 I got maybe 400 points lower than in WinMe (not sure, didnt use the excact same settings).

That's odd. 4.29 VIA AGP works fine here. (Couldn't get 4x AGP without it.) Whistler benchmarks the same as 2000. Like it should. This was with the 11.01 drivers.
