how can i speed up my HD maybe in win2k pro

i have a 45 gig diamond max 7200 rpm ATA 100 and 8. 7 ms maxtor HD got a abit k7a raid mobo btw and got the HD on ide 3 but its not using you know like raid its just using it as another ide channel.

Windows 2000 doesn't support ATA/100 speed. It will only run at ATA/66. Benchmarking should confirm this.
 
SP2 will fix this oversight.
 
You could regularly defrag the drive, that should help. If the two drives are chained together, and you have a spare ID port, then seperate them and make them both master drives. This should also help.
