How do I check how much RAM is actually there?

This is a discussion about How do I check how much RAM is actually there? in the Windows Hardware category; I'd prefer if there was some DOS proggy or something that I could use to check & see exactly how much RAM this thing has. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. .

You do mean how much installed memory there is on the motherboard ?!?

If so then just look at the POST Banner screen when the machine first boots, this should show the amount of RAM installed, minus of course any shared video memory

OP
The memory tested at startup is the base & extended memory - not RAM.

I will try the mem command, thanks. I should hav thought of that but it's been awhile since I really used DOS.
