How do I choose between ACPI mode and Standard PC
I just read that you can choose somewhere which one to install, could someone inform me on how I can go abouts doing this. THX. . . I appricate it. .

Yes, it is F5, smacked after the detecting hardware screen goes away, hit it a few times to be sure it gets it. F6 is for adding mass storage drivers (in the case of ATA66, some SCSI, etc).
I think it offers ACPI uniprocessor system for one processor, and ACPI multiprocessor system (MPS) for dual. These are usually near the top of the list (scroll up with arrows)

also, read the thread "Switching from UP to MP", while the topic might not seem up your alley, the procedure (judging by a quick look) would seem to work.
Go into device manager, expand computer, select what's there and get properties, goto driver tab, update driver button, display a list, show all hardware, assuming your hardware is compliant, there should be some ACPI driver options, pick the applicable one for your system...boom, no re-install necessary?
Maybe...haven't tried, just hypothesizing...
