How do I find and remove a hidden partition?

This is a discussion about How do I find and remove a hidden partition? in the Legacy OS category; I am trying to install Go-Back (Now from Symantec) on a recently reformated hard drive. I get an error message and install exits. The Symantec data base address this error exactly and states the install will not complete due to a hidden partition at the start of the hard drive.

I am trying to install Go-Back (Now from Symantec) on a recently reformated hard drive. I get an error message and install exits. The Symantec data base address this error exactly and states the install will not complete due to a "hidden partition" at the start of the hard drive. It should be deleted or moved to the end of the HD. How do I find it and remove or move it? The drive itself is formated as one partition, drive C:

You can use fdisk to find any non-DOS partitions and delete these or you can use Partition Magic to do the same thing. I prefer PM just because of it's GUI interface and it gives you a lot more options then fdisk does.

The fdisk app will be on any Win 98/ME startup/emergency boot disk you've created

Bear in mind though, that some PC manufacturers (Compaq especially) use this hidden partition for system use, and deleting this partition may make your PC FUBAR...caveat emptor!
