How to export ICQ contact list?

This is a discussion about How to export ICQ contact list? in the Windows Software category; I've looked around ICQ's website, but their 'help' system sucks, not to mention their shoddy servers. Thanks, -bZj.

You can either:

1. Copy the 2000a, 2000b and the UIN directories to back up everything

2. Go to the Message History, right click on the contact list, then on export (I think of the top of my head).

There is currently no way to export your messages - I don't think (only back then up), anyone ?

OP
Thanks, I went ahead an copied the entire directory, and exported as you suggested.

Time for the format/reinstall - hopefully I'll be back up by tomorrow afternoon.

All you have to do copy is the ?:\Program Files\Icq\2000b or 2000a or if you have older ver like 99a or 99b is the folder name.
Then get ICQ reinstall go thur all setup stuff then after log on to ICQ count 5sec then close ICQ & copy that folder back
restart ICQ you now should have everbody on contact list plus all thoses message.

as for 2 you do not need to do that

I didn't say you had to do both of the steps, I said 'either'. :-P
