This is a discussion about how to install windows xp pro oem over xp home oem in the Windows Networking category; I have a new 3200 dollar gateway laptop that came with xp home oem, I since purchased a legal package of xp pro oem,but in no way can I install it with out dumping the hard drive, Did I waste my money? If there is a work around please advise.

If Youd like to keep your support from Gateway Id suggest that you keep Xp Home on that mechine. Once you format that Hd and install Xp Pro You take over support for that laptop. anything that goes wrong with it while it is running under xp pro wont be covered by gateways warranty and support unless you ordered the computer that way froom the start. I dont think you wasted your money either.
Just my two cents.
Thanks
Matt
