How will XP work with older cards?
This is a discussion about How will XP work with older cards? in the Windows Hardware category; I gotta question. . I am an avid gamer + music mixer, and I have an Aureal Vortex 2 SuperQuad 2500, but Aureal is long gone out of business. How does Microsoft plan to deal with this? All the Win2K drivers for it are beta WDM and don't work in many games or A3D apps.

It isn't MS's job to support 3D cards that are no longer supported by the company that made them. They won't make any with D3D support. You're going to have to upgrade or stick with 98/me...
Aureal Vortex cards will be supported in the final release of Windows XP
But will it have reliable 3D support? Hmmm....
It's a sound card. So, for A3D sound, maybe. But I don't think D3D would be an issue with this particular piece of hardware.

It should support your card. I suggest upgrading your card to something a little better... i suggest either a preofessional card from Guillemont or the new philips Acoustic Edge. Yes the sblive is good but it just doesn't cut it when it comes to audio recording
