Ok I have a IBM webcam running under W2K with service pack one using the VIA Chipset I believe its tje 133A VIA chipset. I can use the webcam fine, but when I shut it off it complete locks up, I try and shut it down with the task manager but that does nothing, it brings W2K to its knees, I have to turn off my computer completely to reboot. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this? I have never seen anything that could really bring down W2K but this does everytime. My friend has the exact same setup as mine, but he has the Intel I815E chipset, and it runs fine no problems what so ever. I also have all the lastest patches from VIA. Any help would sure be great.

There are some patches for USB problems on VIA chipsets on the via site (and others). I suspect you may also have a PCI card in the slot that shares IRQs with USB. Again, check your manual, or the via site (or www.viahardware.com, www.2cpu.com, etc. for examples and fixes).
Hope that helps,
