icon background now white instead of transparent
This is a discussion about icon background now white instead of transparent in the Windows Software category; just deinstalled a program which could modify my gamma settings and now all my icons in the taskbar and programs list are on a white background instead of transparent. anyone know how I can revert it back to transparent? thanks.

If you are feeling adventurous, you might look under Hkey current user\colors and desktop keys...
M$'s TweakUI has a "Rebuild Icons" option on the "Repair" tab.
If your problem is due to a bad uninstall, this will fix it.

How do you set Transparent Icon Backgrounds under win2k? I know its standard under XP but how do I get the same Effect under Win2k?

once i had this problem and it was solved by locking the desktop items and disabeling the web contents in active desktop. try that and see if that helps.
