When you download a file with Internet Explorer... and you specify the directory you want to save it to... why doesn't it save it directly to that directory? Instead it downloads it to some mysterious place on my hard drive (if anybody knows where, please tell me!) and then it copies the file over to the directory I specified. Why won't it just throw it right into the directory i want it to go to? Can I change this?

It copies it to your Temporary Internet Files directory in your profile.
i gotta agree with you there.... it's pretty annoying, especially if it's a large file.... anyone know a reg hack or something?
umm..
it's in the Windows Setup Update files..
it's never been a mysterious directory...

Because it's caching it up for you in the temp internet files. Plus, if your lucky, if the d/l fails (and the planets are aligned JUST right), it will pick up where it left off. Now, you wouldn't want all those halfway downloaded files cluttering your pretty directories now do you?
