illumination problems?

Dear All, I'm running a GeForce 2 MX400 64MB AGP video card. When playing games such as the following examples, illumination really REALLY lacks making the games unplayable ins some parts of the maps because they are way to dark to see! Return To Castle Wolfenstein Quake III Half Life Half Life:Countersterstrike etc.

NOTE: I have the gamma setting in each game blown up to the maximum it can go, and the monitor brightness setting is set as far up as it can go! Can anyone help??

You can go into the display properties and if I'm not mistaken, under the color management tab there should be a slider for gamma. Raising it to 2.0 should make a huge difference in the games. You can also enable the quicktweak icon in the system tray and save two settings, one w/ gamma at 1.0 and one w/ gamma at 2.0 so you don't have to go through this whole process everytime you play a game. You can just select the setting you want through the quicktweak panel.
