My guess is that they want to run a game and of course the onboard 810e IGP is not really up to the task

@sophielakess, you will need to check with the Packard-Bell website for details on your machine model as there were many motherboards that didn't come with an AGP slot that were based on the 810 series chipset. You may have to find a PCI slot graphics card to upgrade too and also wether you have a free PCI slot to begin with in your machine.

If a PCI card is an upgrade to an AGP onboard card, I'm a monkey's uncle.

It would be really helpful if we knew what the exact problem was though.

jmmijo already stated the problem. It's the graphics card....(if that's what you want to call the POS devices they stick in their mobos to output video.....)

I'm tired of dealing with Sims 2 problems but if the person above wants to get it working all they have to do is go to the nearest computer hardware store, show the Sims 2 system requirements to a rep, rep reads requirements, picks out video card and or installs video card in customers PC.

Of course if that is really the MHZ amount of that PC/memory amount of that machine running Sims 2 on it isn't going to be a great experience.....

Maxis really should have put on the boxes a big sticker stating that the Sims 2 is not Sims 1....ie it's a totally different beast and requires people to actually read and follow the system requirements. I know I know...totally unrealistic.

Personally, I thinks the "Sims" are a POS game, aside from that, I figured there was an error message.

Onboard graphics blow 90% of the time, the other 10% some things work. For gaming, especially anything with actual graphics, such as Sims2, onboard is a joke. I know that, but you can make these games run, if you're not upset by watching "Pacman" graphics on your system.

Tis why I wanted to know what the error was.

I have seen a decent Sapphire Radeon 9250 PCI card available and this should indeed work fine with the Sims 2, albeit a tad slow due to the PCI interface, but still usable
