importing mail to Outlook Express
This is a discussion about importing mail to Outlook Express in the Legacy OS category; In this case the question is on a win98 machine. The original drive has everything on it, and is cabled as the slave, and running D:\. I have a customer wanting to import the mail from the D:\ drive that he had to the C:\.

I have a customer wanting to import the mail from the D:\ drive that he had to the C:\. Problem is, I haven't as yet found the mail to do so. He was previously running WINME, now running 98SE.

He needs to install the Internet Explorer/Outlook Express version which comes with Windows Me on his Windows 98 box (Or a newer version)
Then I think the following advise should work for him :

I appreciate the link. I am used to corporate with their *.pst files. Makes life a lot easier, unless the file corrupts.
Thanks again.

Thanks again.
If i remember correctly, you just find the mail containers on the other drive and copy them over the current ones. I have no idea where the containers would be but they are called *.dbx
there is inbox.dbx, outbox.dbx etc.
try this out.
Do not move them just copy them just in case i am wrong.

Yes that is how I have done it when I didn't Export Mail and Settings to begin with. You can just drag and drop the .dbx files.

I appreciate the bytes gentlemen. Not sure if you have ever had to obtain data from a customers dying drive, but they freak out over the slightest thing. Thanks again.
