Inadvertent browser window closing

I'm running NT 4. 0 workstation (not on a network) and IE 6. 0. Whenever I encounter a website that requires Adobe Flash Player, the do you want to install. . . query pops up. So far, so good. A short time after I reply NO, the generic Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I'm running NT 4.0 workstation (not on a network) and IE 6.0. Whenever I encounter a website that requires Adobe Flash Player, the "do you want to install ..." query pops up. So far, so good. A short time after I reply NO, the generic "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry yadda yadda yadda" and, boom, the window closes (and re-opens to my homepage). Well, after three or four of these episodes, I caved in and said YES to the "do you want to install ..." query. Guess what? Same problem. Help me.

try an upgrade to I.E.7 or a mozilla based browser such as firefox 2.x or seamonkey1.1x OR you could download for many free/shareware sites and install flash player directly instead of thru the browser.
