My installation routine for files under win2kpro 3 has always been a litle picky.

but lately 2/3 games have caused me large problems when trying to install.

If i put in the game disk..the auto installer just keeps running one setup.exe after another...forever...my processor will eventually reach 100%.

In any event, i must reboot to recover.

I can't verify my files because in quite a few cases it wants a service pack disk..and it won't recognize the one i made when i downloaded the packs from the internet. Its very hard to abort the file checker in that case.

Anyone else been experiencing this...

Or, even better, does anyone have a good solution to this problem?

TIA

don't get me wrong here...i'm just a home user with sole access to my network.

I'm behind a firewall and have a virus checker.

I've never really needed a virus checker since i only download from known sources. But to be doubly safe..i do use a virus checker now...for about a year.

When yu see something like this, virus is the first thing that comes to mind.
But...nope.

As i say...i've had some interesting install problems before..but never like these last 2 games.

Usually i can just by pass the auto install and run setup AND make sure i'm using the lowest drive letter. So it wasn't a big deal.

But this...spawning is above and beyond acceptable.

No troubles with XP on this score.
