Installing VideoCam (kensington) in W2K

I got a Videocam Works (Kensington) but it came with software and drivers for Windows 98. When looking at the hardware index at this website, I found the next statement: The installation fails to run under W2000.

I got a Videocam Works (Kensington) but it came with software and drivers for Windows 98. When looking at the hardware index at this website, I found the next statement: The installation
fails to run under W2000. It needs to be fooled into thinking
it's running under W98.

The question is.. how I do this?.. how I make the installation thinks that it's running under W98?... when I try to install the software.. I get the next message: W98_REQUIRED - entry not found in the string table

Thanks in advance for any help

You'll need to use apcompat.exe - it's in the support tools, and should be on your CD somewhere. It will give you the option of thinking you're running everything from Win95 to NT4.

Good luck,

OP
Down8, as I was checking out, you had the same problem with the same camera. The thing here is that I want to use the camera with both Windows 98 and W2K so I don't want to update the camera's firmware. Did you try this of installing the drivers with the tool that you are mentioning?... did it work out good?... I guess not cause you ended returning back the camera. Thanks for your comments.

Sorry, I had returned it before I knew of that trick, and I don't dual boot, so I wouldn't have been able to play between Win98 & Win2k.

Good luck though,
