Intel CS 110 USB webcam + Win2k?

This is a discussion about Intel CS 110 USB webcam + Win2k? in the Windows Hardware category; Whenever I try to install it, it won't do a thing, it just gives The data is invalid and installs a blank USB imaging device. I have an Epox 8KHA motherboard that's using the VIA chipset for USB. I'm also using a AMD 1ghz Thunderbird and I have a Nvidia Geforce 2 GTS card, if that makes any difference at all.

I'm assuming the driver is wrong or something in the registry is screwy, but Intel's new drivers won't work and neither does anything from Microsoft Update. I tried changing permissions on the registry keys in HKLM/CurrentControlSet . . ./USB so that everyone has full permissions to them, but Win2k just won't take this driver. Driver and camera work great under Win98.

I'm going to flash the bios now and try to find some post-SP2 fixes for Win2k, but I'm out of ideas otherwise. Please help!

Do you have SP2 installed?
Do you have any other USB cameras or devices?
Have you completely un-installed the software and re-installed it?
Did you get a newer driver from Intel?

I have a Epox 8-KTA M/B and have used 3 USB cameras on 2k and no real problems (not at the same time).
There is a program I love from:

www.4dev.com

called Registry Crawler V4. It does a great job of finding all the left over crap from programs and especially drivers that get un-installed but leave half of the crap behind. Especially Logitech and Creative which have very bloated software!!!!!
There might be left over entries behind causing the problem.
