Here's the problem that happens to me... when i try to open up to 50 IE windows... (just about:blank) around the number 50... it just doesn't seem to open any more windows... sometimes i get a few more but they are missing the toolbar or something else like the menus...

it's not bad RAM dimms, i have a big swap file +-400MB and i have enough memory that's for sure... (392,672K) and the interresting thing is... i go to the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) to see how much those 50 IE windows are ocupying and it says that
there is +-200Mb free of physical memory...

Another intresting thing is i can open up to 247 mozilla windows (after that it crashes but i think it's a but of mozilla since i still have some MB of memory free)

Anyone else is having this problem?

... it has nothing to do with pop-ups... it's simply because I search alot on the net and i keep alot of windows open to do cross-checking... that's why i'm asking... it's really anoying having a limit of +-50 windows open

LOL.
Send the bug to Microsoft, I'm sure they would be interested to hear that report.

... but i don't find that key in the registry (i've followed the "path" and as a 2nd try, used the search... neither one gave results)...

i probably explained myself wrong i think... what i meant about not being able to open more than +-50 IE windows was not about opening +-50 IE windows of a particular site... i just meant completly blank IE windows... what i do is this...

(my homepage = about:blank)

I click on the desktop icon of IE... then there's 2 ways of getting to the problem... one is to keep pressing the icon to get more IE windows... when i reach 50 or near 50... it starts to open windows with the toolbar missing or menu bar... and it doesn't let me open any more windows (still the Windows Task Manager says that i have 200MB of free physical memory)

another way to get to the problem is to click on the IE icon and use CTRL + N to open new windows.. same effect here... when it reaches +-50 windows some have the toolbar (etc) missing and it finally doesn't let me open any more windows...

another interresting thing that might help is that i can't open any explorer windows either... i try to click in My Computer and it doesn't open... when i have explorer (like My Computer, C:\, etc) windows open... like 3 or 4... and i start to open those -+50 IE windows... the number doesn't reach -+50 because it seams that those explorer windows count to that +-50 limit...

I know that the explorer/IE are integrated or something like that... i don't really care if they are (antitrust/monopoly/courts not really on my agenda for now ... i just would like to know if there's a way to solve this, if it's a specific problem of my computer or it's a general problem.

Tnks for all your help !

... there's no problem i guess i'll just use mozilla for a while or something...

ah... another thing is... my sister's computer has the exact same problem... (she only has 128MB ram) but even so i don't think that should matter... when it reaches +-50 the exact same phenomenon... oh well

Thanks for all your help !!
