Have you tried install the IPX protocol in XP and then tried running the game?
 
Go to Network Connections via Control Panel.
Rightclick your connection ("Local Area Network").
Click Install button, select Protocol and click Add...
Select "NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol", OK.
