Is there such a thing as an ATA100 cable?
This is a discussion about Is there such a thing as an ATA100 cable? in the Windows Hardware category; I looked in my tower, and my 80-pib cable says ATA66 on it. Yet, it allways my bios to detect my hard drive as ATA100, DMA5 mode and same with Sisift Sandra. I'm wondering, is there an actual ATA100 cable I can buy or are they all 80-pin ATA66 cables?.

The ATA 66 cables are also for 100 and 133 as well I believe. They are capable of reaching higher bandwith also.
Are you sure sapiens? The cables that came with my mobo are made up of more "cables" than my old ones and they are stiffer and more densely packed. (in the flat version).

The ones that look more densely packed are ATA66/100 cables.
Yup, all the 80pin cables support ATA66+.
The extra 40 cables are simply there to prevent cross-talk, an issue that could arrise on any speeds ATA66 or above, they don't add more cables as the speed increases.
Older cables are labeled ATA66 because ATA100 didn't exist, newer cables are labeled ATA100 and are of course backwards compatible.
I've not seen any cables labeled ATA133 as not too many companies have embraced that standard.
