Keyboard Question
Please, can anyone help me with this problem: When I hold the SHIFT key for few seconds, Windows XP stops until I release it. I can't move the mouse at that time. A beep is produced when I release.
Please, can anyone help me with this problem:
When I hold the SHIFT key for few seconds, Windows XP "stops" until I release it. I can't move the mouse at that time. A beep is produced when I release. I tried it with WORDS and I noticed that after that it types only uppercases as if CAPS LOCK is enabled.
The problem I face is that I always need to hold down the SHIFT key during games. I do not want XP to "stop" at that time.
I have a dual boot XP/98, I do not have this problem with 98.
Thank you in advance,
Jacques

Sounds like the Accessibility "StickyKeys".
I always go into control panel and set all Accessibility Options to not use the shortcuts.
Go into control panel > Accessibility Options > Accessibility Options then untick all the boxes for Stickykeys, FilterKeys, ToggleKeys, etc.
I untick them all for keyboard, sound, display, etc. as I do not need Accessibility Options.

I enabled "StickyKeys" for a while to see what happens.
"StickyKeys" does a different beep when I press SHIFT.
So what happened was the following:
1)I press SHIFT -> "StickyKeys" beep
2)I keep holding SHIFT down -> XP stops
3)I release SHIFT -> A different beep
After this test I disabled "StickyKeys"
I hope this would give you a clue.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
