( kind of long) XP Plus! and Matrox G400 drivers causes cons
Just wanted to see if any one else has experienced this. My basic setup is: Abit BE6 PIII 450 256 Mb PC100 G400 SB Live! Value I installed XP and XP Plus! on my secondary partition. (HPT 366 controller prohibits a straight upgrade from 98SE).
Just wanted to see if any one else has experienced this. My basic setup is:
Abit BE6
PIII 450
256 Mb PC100
G400
SB Live! Value
I installed XP and XP Plus! on my secondary partition. (HPT 366 controller prohibits a straight upgrade from 98SE). I set it to one of the themes, Nature I think. The next time I started the system it began to constantly reboot. On boot up it would get to the startup audio, then some minor screen corruption would occur. After that it would reboot saying it was fixing some cross mapped files. It never stopped.
The weird part is that since I had only set an XP Plus! theme on my account and not on any of the others the rebooting only occurred on mine. If I logged into my wife's or sons' accounts everything was fine.
When I did logon successfully a problem report, which I sent off to M'soft, said that the G400 drivers were the likely cause for this. I tried to use the W2K drivers but without success. I had to uninstall XP Plus! in order to logon to my own account.
Anyone else experience anything like this?
