Have you tried running the setup in compatibility mode? Is the media free from scratches? Can you try copying the entire contents of the CD to your hard drive, and installing from that folder?

It sounds as though the CD drive cannot read the disc. Since the disc is free from scratches, one other variable is the drive itself.
Do you have another CD drive you can try copying the files from? Perhaps a different computer?

there is another computer in the house, but thats me dads, and hes a work right now so i cant ask him i can install it on his computer, if he wont let me i'll ask to temorarily swap over the drives or something like that, he'll probably let me do that.
I think it's worth a shot, either way. Also, do you happen to have a CD laser-lens cleaner? Typically they are normal CDs with small brushes on the bottom. You could try using that if you have one in the mean time.
Another idea, if you have a spare IDE cable, you could try replacing the cable that the CD drive uses, if you're comfortable doing so.

also, when i try to copy the contense it can only copy 3 of the files: autorun 1kb cfg?

I'm not sure, it could be a few different things.
It could be that the installer is attempting to load a "splash" screen, and failing to either read that file, or the installer could be partially incompatible with NT/2000/XP/2003 operating systems.
It could be that a 3rd party bitmap/.BMP filter has been installed, and the installer may have certian hooks into the default Microsoft .BMP filter.
What error message are you receiving after copying of those three files? Cannot read from disk?

it may just be that its not xp compatible, i belive KQ8 was released before xp pro? i'll probably give it a go on my dads computer
yeah, it just says it cant read from it
edit:
just noticed that the section this thread in is actually just for nt & 2000 and such games, just so you know, i have xp.

A quick google returned that KQ8 was released in 1998, so compatibility could definately be an issue. Similarly, a quick look on the net reports that installation may fail if you try to install to an NTFS-formatted partition, somehow the installer checks for a FAT/FAT32-formatted partition.
Perhaps some of our compatibility experts can add their thoughts? DosFreak? ConQueso?

eh... why does it say its solved?
Not sure, I don't fully understand the "Solution" feature myself. Hopefully a mod can correct that?
