Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen (1) error?

This is a discussion about Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen (1) error? in the Windows Games category; I'm trying to play the original PC blood omen on my computer and it doesn't seem to want to cooperate. The game will start up just fine and get so far as the tavern scene. Once the game gets there though it plays the innkeep's sound file while he paces the screen.

I'm trying to play the original PC blood omen on my computer and it doesn't seem to want to cooperate. The game will start up just fine and get so far as the tavern scene. Once the game gets there though it plays the innkeep's sound file while he paces the screen... and it stops there. The innkeeper continues to pace, but none of the keys work anymore. Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Alt+Del won't minimize the game, so I have to reboot to be able to do anything again. Any suggestions?

In case you don't know, the tavern scene I'm referring to is the start of the actual game. It's just intro movies before that.

It's being run in 98/2000 emulation while I run XP

Download the PC Game Compatibility list from my signature. (It's an excel file).

Once in the excel file look for this game in there and there will be instructions on what I did to get the game t work.

For Win98 there is only choice - slow down game on _every_ movie, except transitions. Or it will keep freezing. My choice is CPUKiller. (It prevents you from "normal" movies, though. Nevermind, it can be freely played from menu.)

Just tried out my method in Windows 2003 and it works there too.
