I have Windows XP Professional installed on one of the computers here. Today, I awoke to find a fun error message: Windows cannot boot up. The following file is missing, damaged, or corrupted: windows\system32\hal.dll. So, I got out the Windows disk and fixed that up. Restart. Ok, it is booting up now.
Now I am at the log in screen and it asks for my password. I put it in, press enter, and I get this message: 'Das Programm hat einen Befehl ausgegeben, aber die Befehlslänge ist falsch.', which translates to, 'The program gave a command, but the command instruction is false.'
This message only comes up when I give the correct password. I couldn't find anything really having anything all that relevant to do with my problem by googling the phrase in German, and I don't even know what to search for exactly in English, since the phrase is so general. Everything I have googled is completely useless.
Does anyone else have any ideas on how to fix this?
