Pentium4//1.8ghz//768rdram//Ati Radeon Pro 128//SantaCruz//Windows XP pro.
Im recently having serious issues with my computer and hope someone can help me out. It seems like all of a sudden no audio on my computer is working, its not just a unplugged speaker or somthing, when I attempt to play audio weither it be via iTunes, Winamp, WMP, or even video games, web sites with sounds or my cd rom. Nothing works, infact nothing even begins to play. I cannot begin to play any audio file, the number stays at 0:00 and it just wont play. Also it slows my system to a complete hault whenever sound is supposed to be playing and my sys rescources shoot to 100%. I have no idea what is going wrong but maybe someone can help.

Sounds like corrupt sound drivers, remove sound drivers from Device Manager and reboot, then install new sound drivers again.
Also make sure sound is not muted or volume turned down too much.
