Making movies on my PC

This is a discussion about Making movies on my PC in the Windows Hardware category; I want to use Windows Movie Maker (suggest any better software by all means) to make machinima movies for someone I know. Can I record a full screen program on my PC with WMM? If not, what kind of cables do I need to attach my PC to my TV or games consoles?.
