When i tried to open a DAT [Movie file] file from the cd rom I am getting the following error:
Please verify that the path and filename are correct and try again
When i checked in the microsoft support site I found that all the errors are related while opening a file from webaddress or from server
But in my case I am trying to open the file from the cd rom. Then Why I am receiving the error.
I would really appreciate if some one could help me to over come this problem.

Sounds to me as is media player doesn't have the right codec for that movie file format and is attempting to download a new one automatically, hence the error is about failing to connect to an address.
Personally I have never known media player to succeed in ever downloading a codec. It always results in an error which means you'll have to go and find the correct codec and install it.

is attempting to download a new one automatically -------------
How it can able to download automatically when i am not connected to internet.
And also I can able to open other movie files from other cd roms.
