Alright, so I used Parition magic on a HD that I already used Western Digitals Data Lifeguard tools & Maxtors MaxBlast Partition software for (2 drives are Western Digitals, the other 1 is Maxtor).

After I used Partition magic, the boot sector is totally screwed & I can't use the manufacturers software on it now, any suggestions on how to fix?

If you're running win 2000 or xp you can boot from the cd and go to the recovery console. There are two commands that can help fixboot and fixmbr (fix master boot record).

OP
I used OnTrack Disk Manager & got the boot sector fixed... sorta. It works but I can't run the Western Digital or the MaxBlast partition proggies.

As for the booting off of a CD, that's a no go for now because this is a real old PC & the BIOS doesn't support it. I am trying to do a BIOS update & we'll see what happens.

I was originally able to boot CDs from the boot sector the Western Digital partition proggy had created but now that's trashed & I can't use the programs again.
