Microsoft Corp. today announced Windows Datacenter Server Limited Edition as the next installment in the Windows family of servers. As part of the Microsoft Windows Datacenter Program, Windows Datacenter Server Limited Edition is for customers that require their server operating environment to provide enhanced levels of database performance and scalability in single-server machines operating with 16 or more processors.
"Windows Datacenter Server Limited Edition continues to build on the great enterprise-class features and functionality we introduced in Windows 2000 Datacenter Server," said Cliff Reeves, vice president of the Windows .NET Server Solutions Group at Microsoft.
