Midtown Madness 2 and WinXP 2495

MM2 doesn't work under XP. It opens the splash screen, gets about 30% thru the progress bar, then locks up. I press CTRL+ESC to return to desktop and I'm greeted with the error message Fatal Error something about a pointer and then a GPF.

MM2 doesn't work under XP. It opens the splash screen, gets about 30% thru the progress bar, then locks up. I press CTRL+ESC to return to desktop and I'm greeted with the error message "Fatal Error" something about a pointer and then a GPF. This happens every time I try to start MM2. I installed the latest NVidia drivers (12.90) and still no luck. BTW, the Nvidia drivers that come with Windows XP 2495 don't even work properly with D3D 8.1, do MM2 didn't even start. I even tried installing the Support files found on Centralgaming.net, still no good. Plz help. I have also submitted the error report to Microsoft. I've tried every compatibility mode there is, even QFIXAPP! I just got Windows XP 2495 and I can't play my favrit game !!!!!!!

Here are some workarounds to this issue:
A. Install video drivers from Nvidia's website 12.41
B. Reboot several times (run the Direct3d test in dxdiag each time until it passes)
C. Try again when you get 2503
