Might and Magic IV on Windows XP
This is a discussion about Might and Magic IV on Windows XP in the Windows Games category; Hello All, I tried to run Might and Magic IV: Mandate of Heaven on Windows XP but it doesn't work. An error message pops up and states that: Video Driver not a DirectDraw driver. Do I need to download a DirectDraw driver or is the problem more in depth? Thanks alot, Mike.

An error message pops up and states that: Video Driver not a DirectDraw driver.
Do I need to download a DirectDraw driver or is the problem more in depth?

I have the game, and it works fine for me. I would think that it is nothing more than your drivers. Maybe reinstall direct x all together to fix the direct draw. Or check your settings within direct x on your direct draw. hope you fix it-it's a fun game.
I don't know if anyone has posted this solution before...
I have Windows XP Pro and MM6 and MM8 run fine on my system.
MM7 didn't run, until I did this
1. Run DXdiag, set 3d accelerated audio to None
2. Open MM7 setup and disable 3d audio
3. In MM7 setup still, select Run 3d Video/graphics from software
4. Then hit the button to run MM7 that is next to the exit button..
and it worked like magic for me...
