Migrating from NT 4.0 to Server 2003 Small Business
This is a discussion about Migrating from NT 4.0 to Server 2003 Small Business in the Everything New Technology category; I need to migrate from an old server running NT 4. 0 to a new one running Server 2003 Small Business. How do I go about copying user profiles from the old server to the new one? Is there anything else I need to be aware of? All of the workstations are already running XP SP2.

Any help you can provide will be most appreciated...
Thanks,

These user profiles: are they profiles in C:\Documents and Settings or Roaming profiles?
If the former, then do NOT copy the profiles across as NT4 profiles are not compatible, just copy the Application Data, Desktop, Personal Data and Favorites across and forget the rest.
For Roaming profiles, you can do a straight copy and then set up the user permissions again and change location in AD Users and Computers in Profile tab.
