Modem Problem

Win2K OK, I open up the dialup connection I want to use and hit dial. . . the box goes away and all that i see is the connection thing on the taskbar and i hear the modem noises. . . After dialing it makes some VERY abnormal connection noises then it hang-ups and freezes.

After dialing it makes some VERY abnormal connection noises then it hang-ups and freezes...everything works just fine in 98 and ME soooo whats the bloody problem?
 
(I tried generic and other modems but it only uses those on COM1 and wont let me change...my modem is on COM3 and quick help would be MUCH apperciated! Thanks)
