monitor clicking on and off....

This is a discussion about monitor clicking on and off.... in the Windows Games category; when ever I play games like quake 3 for example, my monitor clicks on and off when switching modes. I dont understand why it does this. I also have winMe installed on the same pc, and it does not do this.

when ever I play games like quake 3 for example, my monitor clicks on and off when switching modes. I dont understand why it does this. I also have winMe installed on the same pc, and it does not do this. Also, quake 3 sucks under win2k. The game is slower than under ME and the picture breaks up. Anyone experience any of these problems before? Thanks.

If it matters, i have a pIII 500 128MB Ram, Voodoo3 3000 agp, and viewsonic PF790 monitor

Have you actually installed drivers for your Voodoo3? the monitor clicking on and off is normal, now if it just clicks off then you need to lower your refresh rate cause you monitor doesn't support it.

OP
Yes, I have installed the voodoo3 drivers along with my monitor drivers. I just didn't understand why it does this under win2k but not under winME. Along with the poor performance is enough to make me reboot to ME. Thanks for the response.

i can understand how it annoys you, especially in games that switch modes a lot.
