Monitor standby problem in SP3

Could someone perhaps help me to resolve the following problem? I have been running Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 for some time quite successfully. During this time I have had my computer set to switch off my monitor to standby mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.

I have been running Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 for some time quite successfully. During this time I have had my computer set to switch off my monitor to standby mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.

I have recently updated my installation with Service Pack 3 with no apparent difficulty; however when I try to set my monitor to go into standby mode, as before, either nothing happens at all or my system freezes or crashes.

I have installed all the latest drivers for machine & removed all of the unnecessary registry items from the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\ key, but so far this has had no discernable effect.

My computer’s motherboard is an Abit KT7A RAID & my graphics card is an ATI All In Wonder.

Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.
