I have a couple moments to do a few actions, but I cannot get it to do anything after that. I have restarted in safe mode and restarted it back a couple days.
My computer mouse stops working once windows xp fully loads. I have a couple moments to do a few actions, but I cannot get it to do anything after that. I have restarted in safe mode and restarted it back a couple days. But nothing is working. Any ideas??

When I log in under safe mode, the comperter says Windows XP Home Edition. Is there somewhere I can look to find out if it is SP1 or SP2? But as for the mouse, it is the one on the lap top. I do not have anything plugged in on the computer.

I just had someone show me how to check and it is service pack 2.
Ahh... a laptop mouse pad? What make and model laptop is this?

i do believe there may be a viruses, but i cannot get the scan to work in safe mode. I will try getting the latest driver for the mouse pad. thank you for the idea. It is a Dell Vostro 1000, does that change any of your last ideas? Thank you so much for all your thoughts!!
