MS Backup error

A friend recently installed a 60GB hard drive and partitioned it into (3) 20GB virtual drives. He tried to backup 13 GB of data using MS Backup on Win 2K. He errored at a little over 4 GB telling him the drive was full.

A friend recently installed a 60GB hard drive and partitioned it into (3) 20GB virtual drives. He tried to backup 13 GB of data using MS Backup on Win 2K. He errored at a little over 4 GB telling him the drive was full. I suggested he backup in smaller increments of 4GB each. He checked his space using Partition Magic and found that he had 14 GB unused on the drive he was backing up to. Any thoughts?
