msvcrt.dll error. Please help

This is a discussion about msvcrt.dll error. Please help in the Legacy OS category; Hello. I'm having the MSVCRT. DLL issue with IE and media player, but I'm running xp home edition and so far all the advice I've found on various websites is for windows 98. Can anyone help me?.

Sorry about the double post, my computer froze so I didn't think the first one went through. I've got the file, but it's what I do with the file that has me a lil lost. I was told to go to the selective startup menu and log in using command prompt only. I did that, but the next step I was when i get to the DOS window to type in cd windows\system. When I did that I got a message that the file path does not exist.

Actually, what you would type is - Cd\Windows\system . But this depends on what directory you start from when the Dos prompt comes up. To make sure just type cd\ to get yourself to the root directory, then type cd\Windows\system .
